Keto saved my life. I’ve been overweight all my life and no diet or exercise routine worked for me. I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and I was pre-diabetic. I almost gave up on ever being a normal weight and started to accept that I would probably die before I turned 40. Then I heard about keto and gave it a shot. I lost over 20lbs in the first month. It wasn’t easy though! There’s something called the keto flu that really threw me out of wack until I started taking a supplement to fight it off. If you are doing keto or thinking about starting keto I suggest this supplement to help you fight off the keto flu and help you stay in ketosis https://health-shop.us/purefit I’ve lost over 68lbs on keto so far and I’m 22lbs away from my goal. Keto literally saved my life when nothing else worked. I will be forever thankful to keto.

It is easy and worth if pounds are falling off.
I didnt grow up eating pasta We had potatoes in every form so thats the only thing I might have missed besides milk. Its not a restrictive lifestyle,I never think about what I cant eat but focus the many whole foods I can eat, not that you need much food on keto.

For those just starting out wanting to try Keto…..keeping your daily carbs at or below 20 net carbs will really get you into ketosis. I never followed the 70, 25, 5% ….that can be overwhelming. So here is the simple version to try…get up and have a coffee with heavy cream and a stevia, or erythritol, or monk fruit sweetener in it….have 2 fried eggs and 4 slices of bacon. The fat from the cream and bacon will keep you full until lunch. Have some baked wings or any kind of real unprocessed meat, (steak, fish, chicken with skin on etc) with either broccoli/cauliflower, green beans (don’t forget to have butter melted over those veggies…fat keeps you full)……, or spinach salad or a Caesar salad for lunch. Then in the evening a similar meal….you can use an app called carb manager to enter your ingredients to track the carbs or calories. If you need to snack, try pork rinds with a small amount of popcorn seasoning, or cheese sticks or a few pepperoni slices. Stay away from sugar, flour, pasta, potatoes or rice. Keep mostly to green veggies. This is a great way to start and then watch keto videos, such as high Falutin low carb, cooking keto with Kristie, keto chaos, Lauren Brazee, also http://www.dietdoctor.com, etc for tips on recipes or grocery hauls to know what to do for a successful weight loss journey. The great advantage to keto is weight loss for those who struggle with extreme obesity or diabetes (most reverse it within 3 months of keto lifestyle).

Do carbs from veggies count?

Reality isnt A choice says:
February 24, 2019 at 11:29 pm

@killian
If your trying to do keto,
You will focus on eating low carb veggies.
But all carbs count.
The 70- 25-5 % is only for adapting though.
Its easier to start dirty keto to adapt for the 6 months or longer.
The older and unfit you are the harder and longer it takes to fully adapt .
As you clean it up by changing 1/2 your fats to plant base..
Also once the beggining of adaptation starts you would go to 7-10 cups of low carb but keeping the 20-30 net carbs.
49 net carbs and less are keto amounts of carbs.
20-30 net are where the dramatic weightloss is.
But your not fasting you will have difficulty.
The 1st fasting is just plain intermittent.
Later as your better you will choose a day or more of fasting ..
This fasting is when you have weight to lose.

Noniksleft says:
February 25, 2019 at 9:19 am

@killian Total carbs minus fiber carbs = net carbs. Net carbs is what you count. Veggies have mostly fiber carbs but some net carbs. Broccoli per 100g has about 4g net carbs

@Mike Gutrugianios i am new to all this, but what I can see is that he changes his views on the best diets and the best way for patients every now and then, as long as he has the viewers and his show is going to bring money! So as a matter of fact I wouldn’t want to trust someone like him. The people in his shows seem somehow fake. Is he himself a doctor? I am just thinking out loud… No offence to anyone, but I have my doubts watching him!

Holy crap. The difference is amazing side by side in the photos. This has motivated me to finally take “before” pictures. Started at 360 on Keto (incorporated intermittent fasting at the end of month two) and about five months later I’m at 280 and steadily dropping….been obese my entire life and I’m now literally lighter than I’ve been since about age 15….eleven to twelve years ago…. Didn’t take before pictures because honestly had never tried any “fad” diet before and didn’t think it would work….seemed too good to be true….tried and failed the traditional physician recommended way too many times to count…..the cravings and hunger always took the wheel within days….but now realize it was stupid of me not to take pictures for future motivation the moment I realized that this was the lifestyle for me and that it worked. If you’re having issues with your weight, depression, fatigue, PCOS, are type 2 diabetic or prediabetic, suffer from inflammatory issues, and/or your biggest problem with attempting to lose weight is the food part…then Keto will be your godsend. Trust me.(preferably in combination with IF, but that part is completely optional, as you’ll get great results with or without it).
It’s nothing new (on an evolutionary perspective) and is not “just a fad”, as there are loads of supporting studies on it and its effectiveness against obesity & a multitude of common diseases/disorders/ailments.
I contribute it to saving my life.
Also improved my depression, energy levels, skin, and lessened cravings and hunger big time. For anyone on the fence about it, take a bit of time to educate yourself first on how it works and exactly what it is, stay away from Keto “products”, and then give it an honest go, you won’t regret it. I’m no seasoned expert by any means but feel free to ask me or look up dr. Berg here on YouTube if you have questions.

May 26, 2019 at 7:16 am

@Jen Tuesday Hope you’re still doing well Jen! Just wanted to say that as far as loose skin is concerned, it just isn’t something you can worry about or do much to change, even if you lose weight slowly, so don’t listen to people trying to slow you down (it could derail you from working hard) It depends on your age, how long you were at your highest weight and what weight that was for an individual. And genetics also determine a lot of it. Just like we’ve seen pregnant women , some bounce back immediately, and have no stretch marks (possibly made a deal with the devil), and other women are covered in them. i It’s the luck of the draw to an extent. Either live with your “flaws” or save for skin surgery but DO NOT let it stop you from getting healthier!
